"My Story, My Songs" by Dorothy Loyd
Thank you for visiting my website. It seems like just a few years ago, when I was a little girl, perhaps five years old that I began singing for the patrons at our neighborhood barber shop. They often asked me to come back, but even if they hadn't, I would have shown up on Saturdays; I loved to sing to an audience, and the little girl in me still does.
My teen years included entering amateur contests, and winning! Then Freddy Martin heard me and liked my voice, but I was too young to go on tour. He advised me to take some "pop" singing lessons. The well-known vocal coach, Bill Stoker, became my first teacher. As soon as I was old enough, I sang at a few small night clubs, restaurant Grand Openings, and private parties, then at Enrico Banducci's, "Hungry i," where Mel Torme invited me to do a TV show with him.
My repertoire of over 350 songs includes Broadway Show Tunes,
Classics from the golden era of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers and Hart and
immortal World War II love songs. I can sing anything from Chattanooga Choo Choo
to Ave Maria.
The songs that you can hear(click on the song) are "La Vien Rose,"
"Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "Can't Help Lovin' That Man." There will
be more songs added to this site in the near future.
We are looking forward to entertaining
at your facility. Just look at the happy faces!
Soon, I'm planning on making my "first" CD; if
anyone has any helpful hints, let me know what it
all entails.
You can email me by clicking on my name below.
Very truly yours,
Dorothy Loyd
