Dorothy Loyd Sings, 'Always' - Helen Hayes Tribute

You will need a RealAudio Player to hear Always; RealAudio Player is available FREE from RealAudio.

When I was performing in San Francisco's hungry i night club, Ms. Helen Hayes was in the audience and commented after hearing my performance, "This girl has a beautiful voice." I would like to sing this wonderful love song, Always in memory of Helen Hayes and her husband, the playwright Charles MacArthur. Composer Irving Berlin dedicated this song in 1925 to Charles MacArthur and Helen Hayes. They considered "Always" as their song.

Had I known at that time that Helen Hayes and Charles MacArthur had adopted Always as their song, I would have sung it that night at Enrico Banducci's hungry i nightclub in San Francisco. So, if any friends or relatives should happen to "visit" my site I'd like to dedicate Always to the memory of that great lady of the American Theater, Helen Hayes.
